Continuing On

As we continued on our journey, last night we stayed in Cheyenne WY. Our goal was to make it to Denver but there just wasn't enough time in the day. We spent most of the day in torrential down pour, hail, sleet at 7000ft and a tornado warning. MMMM....that was fun. Three motels later we finally found a Ramada Inn that took pets. I guess I should have researched that a little better so I knew where to stay. Because I am so powerful, we managed to snag the last and only room they had with three queen beds, only to find out later that the desk manager wasn't supposed to rent that room out to us it was reserved for another family. "Oops so sorry but we are NOT moving!” Best room we have had so far. It was like they cut a wall out between two rooms, and it was accommodated with two bathrooms which with 5 of us was quite especial! With our late start yesterday we promised we would be on the road at 8am and we almost made it; 8:30am take off time but we managed to clock the most miles we have since we started.
So Greg and I decided that we wanted the kids not only to have the memories of driving across the country but be able to see some historical sites and landmarks sooooo…

It’s funny to say it but so much funnier when you actually see it up close and personal. That’s right kids, “The World’s Largest Ball of Twine”. What trip would be complete without it? Where is it you say? Well it is located in Cawker City Kansas, in the middle of nowhere USA. We came we saw we took pictures; albeit a short stay (5 minutes) long enough to touch it and take pictures. Let me just tell you that I am still laughing as I write this blog. We even got honked and waved to by some locals as we gazed upon its weirdness. They are proud and we were happy to oblige.

We are now in Salina Kansas for the night at a Best Western that takes pets! Our goal for tomorrow I think is to get as close to Atlanta as possible. We are going through St. Louis tomorrow and I want the kids to get the chance to see the Gateway Arch. Then it’s drive as fast as we can cause 5 days in hotels and in the car is a lot to do. Where’s the bar?
