Morgan Home Again

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

I am a little late getting to a few of these blogs because when Morgan comes home we get caught up in doing all of the stuff we have missed doing while she wasn't here. So I met Alan at the usual meeting spot "Firehouse Subs" which is in Sarasota, which is where Siesta Key is for those of you who are slow and confused. Alan had asked me prior if he could hang with Morgan and I for the day while we went to the beach. He had never been and I think he was tired of listening to me talk about it all the time. Good news was once we were there and were hanging out he knew exactly why I felt the way I do about that beach. So the three of us spent the next 3 hours jumping waves and hanging in the sun, playing in the sand and watching the parasailors. Truly a delightful HOT day. Even with 2 applications of sunscreen I managed to come home with a pretty nasty sunburn on my shoulders and back. I don't think Alan will be so vain next time as I think he might have suffered a 2nd degree sunburn and he looked like cooked bacon. "We wish you well and a speedy recovery Al"

Morgan's birthday is the day after I take her back to her dad's house so I took her shopping for her birthday present early so that she could enjoy it while she was here with me. In addition my friend Jane from work and I managed to setup a lunch date so that her daughter and Morgan could meet and become fast friends and she could have someone to hang with when she comes to visit her mom. So Jane, Lindsey, Morgan and I met at Red Robin last Sunday for lunch then proceeded over to Ron Jon surf shop so Morgan could pick out her Skim Board. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a thin curved board about 3 feet long used to skim across the water at the tide line. The idea is to run and throw it across the water while jumping on and riding. You are supposed to be able to jump waves and turn just like you would on a surf board. Anyway these are the pics from the first time we went out which was yesterday. Also a video of "how" to do it. Practice makes perfect.

Boy that looks like a lot of fun, and I'm sure practice makes perfect. No doubt by the end of your stay at Mom's, Morgan, you will be getting well down the beach. No lecture about being careful from me, uh uh, just have a ball.
Hugs to all,
Great grandma
