Shades of Color

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

I've never been one of those people who says "God, I love Fall!" I don't care how beautiful the colors are, I want my sunshine and warmth. Watching the weather channel to see what kind of clothing I must don each day so I'm warm enough at 5:30 in the cold mornings, and not overdressed for the afternoons, does not make my heart feel glad. It makes me feel like things coming to an end; long, lazy summer days, warm evening bbq's with friends and family, raising havoc in Melissa's pool with the grandkids. Why would I want to see all of that end?

But alas, I am coming around to some of the virtues of Fall. I do love the colors, not having to worry about mowing the lawn twice a week, no more weeding and tending to the vegetable garden. I do love the veggies, but not the work. And, who can resist a walk through the pumpkin patch with enthusiastic, overjoyed Great Pumpkin finders. Trying to find the perfect specimen to coax Jack out of? And you've just gotta go on a hayride to get there!

Fall is when we draw names for Christmas. Exciting stuff. If you think family bbq's are a blast at The Girls Dorm, you should stick around for the Holidays!

Yes I do love Fall, and all that goes with it. Because when you have a family like ours, how can you not love every season, every month, every day of every year.

I love you all! Happy Fall!

I think I'm starting to like it too. Maybe because it was so hot for so long. I need to get my crock pot out and get some yummy home cookin goin.
