Memorial Day fishing trip to Lake Owyhee

Monday, May 29, 2006

This was one of those can't be missed photo opportunities. I had just arrived and Mark and Chet were trolling along for bass just below our campsite. What a spectacular sunset. This would prove to be the best weather of the weekend. (Don't forget to click on the photos to see the large versions!).

It sure was a good thing Mark brought the Sawsall! How else was Randy going to filet his GIGANTIC BASS?

The last time we camped here on Memorial Day, Mark flew his kite over on that little island. Of course then it was not an island. The water has risen so high in the lake, you can see the cottonwood tree there in the back is submerged to it's branches.

Can you think of a better way to spend the afternoon?

Proof positive my friends!

Oh Oh, someone got off with the evidence!

Despite the main trail being washed out, we even managed to get a short ride in. This is Shad and his two boys. Whatever was on the hillside, I'm sure it was fascinating...

The Glory Hole is something you don't see very often. It really is quite spectacular to see.

I couldn't pass up one more of these photos. A real Kodak moment.

So long, fare well..... We met some really terrific people this holiday, Carla & Randy, and Randy's parents Ravina and Ray (Ray was napping during this photo). Hugs all around. Hope to do it all over again next year!

Well it looks like you guys has a good time despite the wonderful weather. We managed to get one swim day in on Friday and dodged rain the rest of the time. Lots of bike rides, movies and game playing. t-1 1/2 hrs to go, then it's 3 weeks till we go for through our 6 week summer trek with the kiddies! :)
