Brave Young Girls

It's been a long week so far. On Monday I took Rylee to see Dr. Martin for her pre-kindergarten shots. She required 4 separate vaccinations to be able to register for school in the fall. She sat on my lap and took 2 shots in each arm without flinching or shedding a tear. She was a bit sore in her arms the next day but managed to get through her soccer pictures and practice ok.

Yesterday, we finally went back to the dentist with Ady to see about her baby teeth that just keep hanging on. Her permanent teeth have been in since November. Ady has been very reluctant to work those teeth out, so we had no alternative but to go back to the dentist. I told Ady that they were only going to look at her teeth, they were not going to take them out at that time. After getting in there and much discussion about her gums now getting inflamed and whether it would be any better to make another appointment to do it, we decided to see if the dental assistant and I could work with her enough to get them out. So, she let Ady clean her teeth off and put the topical anesthetic on with a q-tip by herself. She was not happy with it at all, but determined she was going to do it herself. And, she did. But, we did in the end have to hold her down and the assistant popped the first one out. Ady did scream quite loud and scared all the other kids in the office. When the assistant popped the second one out, Ady didn't even realize it was gone. She was so surprised it was already out. We got her cleaned up and hugged and calmed down. The assistant let her choose her prize and a sticker plus one for Rylee who sat and held her sister's arm through the whole ordeal. The assistant asked Ady if she still liked her and Ady replied, "Yes, I still like you." with a big toothy grin.

Ady has one more tooth that needs to come out. She has promised to get it out by herself. We will keep you updated :-D

So, you see what an emotional first half of the week it has been for Grandma? I'm just glad I can be here for them.

The best part about being a grandma is that you get to spoil them. Ady is a brave girl and I share her dread of going to the dentist. Good Job Ady, and way to be there for her sister Rylee!

Good Job Grandma, now you can enjoy a wonderful weekend with them spoiling them to death.

Oh, a tear. You are such a great grandma! It is so heartbreaking when Ady gets that upset. I'm just glad she has someone she trusts in those situations.
